Dane Spencer

U.S. Ski Team, Coach and Olympian

Born in Boise, Idaho, Spencer grew up skiing and racing at Bogus Basin. He made the U.S. Ski Team at age 16, and debuted in World Cup competition at age 18 in a giant slalom in Park City.  He raced World Cup full time from 1997-2006, competed on four World Championship teams (1997,’99,’03,’05) and was a member of the 2002 U.S. Olympic team where he finished 16th in the giant slalom, held in Park City. His best finish in World Cup was a 10th place in Adelboden, SUI, and best overall finish was a 7th place at World Championships in Bormio, ITA.

Following severe injuries in 2006, Spencer did not regain his previous form and retired from racing following the 2010 season at age 32. Spencer became a coach with the U.S. Ski Team that summer and assisted with the Europa Cup and World Cup teams during the 2011 season. He was named an assistant coach for the U.S. men’s World Cup team for the 2012 season, under men’s head coach Forest Carey, and again in 2013 under head technical coach Mike Day. From there he accepted a FIS elite coaching job at Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation where he remains to this day.

Chris Brown

Master Boot fitter, Alignment Specialist and Ski Instructor

Chris has been a consultant to Zay since the inception of the Zay ski boot and is partially responsible for how the Zay ski boot skis today. He is one of the top boot fitters in the US and has built over 1200 pairs of boots for locals as well as international clients. He is the owner/operator of B & B boot fitters, which is a mobile boot-fitting lab located in Idaho Springs Colorado. Besides being a world-class boot fitter he is an accomplished skier and is a certified PMTS ski instructor and travels the world teaching.

Since the age of sixteen, Chris has been working in a variety of capacities for small manufactures to large power generation producers. He has been involved with the setup of Alfa production plants for Atlantic Richfield Corp., and moved to L.A. area where he received his license as a Steam engineer. He eventually moved back to Colorado and worked as a millwright for Coors. In early 1990, Chris was hired by Excel Energy and held various positions for the next 14 years.  After many years in the field and working with large industrial systems Chris decided to change his career in 2004. He hired on with Harb Ski Systems (Dumont Colorado) where he was in charge for running the day-to-day operations and honed the craft of building custom ski boots. Today, Chris is the sole owner of B and B Boot Fitters which is a full service mobile lab out of Idaho Springs Colorado.

Jeff Olson

Two Time Olympian, Business Entrepreneur, Philanthropist

Jeff Olson was born in Missoula Montana and is a 2-time Olympian, 3-time national champion and Pan American gold medalist. After retiring in 1994 from professional athletics, Jeff harnessed his energy into becoming a business and social entrepreneur and had successful stints in the financial and technology industries. In 2000, he and his wife co-founded Well Nourished Worldwide. In addition, he is a co-founder in Altius Farms and Areté Holdings, with ownership interests across; health, food, AG, oil, water, waste and sport.

Philanthropically, he serves on the council of directors for True Health Initiative and on the following boards; Operation Victory Gardens, Heuga Center Endowment, Turn the Tide Foundation, and the Colorado Olympians Association. Jeff resides in Denver Colorado where he enjoys the outdoors with his wife and three daughters.
